Friday was its first day of the second session of the current parliamentary year, which was adjourned for Monday after covering up question hour and adoption of a resolution, moved by the treasury benches, by voice vote condemning murder of Punjab Minister Zille Huma Usman.

The official business in the order of the day included announcement of assent given by the governor to 14 bills which were adopted in the last session of the fourth parliamentary year. Other business included four ordinances – Sindh Local Government Fifth Amendment Ordinance 2006, Sindh Speaker’s Deputy Speakers Salaries, Allowances and Privileges Ordinance 2006, Sindh Finance Amendment Ordinance 2006 and Sindh Consumers Protection Ordinance 2007.

The order of the day also included introduction of bill 2006 for establishment of Public Procurement Regulatory Authority for regulating public procurement of goods, services and works in the public sector.

In addition, four government bills for consideration were also in the order of the day. The Sindh Criminal Prosecution Service (constitution, functions and powers) Bill 2006, Societies Registration (second amendment) Bill 2006, Sindh Development Authorities Laws (revival and amending) Bill 2006 and Sindh Local Government (Fourth Amendment) Bill 2006.
