JACOBABAD, March 2: The leaders of the Shehri Ittehad have accused the taluka nazim of Jacobabad of corruption and said that due to lack of attention on his part, heaps of garbage are seen all over the city.
Speaking at a press conference here on Friday, President of the Shehri Ittehad, Mohammad Akram Abro, and others said that the land mafia was active in the taluka and vast swaths of land were occupied by the encroachers.
He said that Rs260,000 was spent on the repair of a tractor while the price of tractor trolley stood at Rs345,000, adding that a fire brigade vehicle was repaired by spending Rs1 million. He further said that an amount of Rs100,000 was shown spent on maintenance of Shaheed Allah Bux Park.
He said that the Shehri Ittehad struggled for the solution of basic problems of the common man. He said that a white paper would be issued against the taluka nazim and references would be filed against him with the Anti-Corruption Establishment and the National Accountability Bureau.
Mr Abro also accused the taluka nazim of drawing monthly salaries of some ghost employees. He alleged that the taluka nazim got contracts through fake names and carries out work under the supervision of a municipal employee.
CLOSED SCHOOLS: The members of the Human Rights Organisation, a local NGO, took out a procession here on Friday to register their concern over ghost schools in the district.
The protesters, after marching on different roads of the town, reached the DCO Chowk where they staged a sit-in for an hour. They also observed token hunger strike outside the press club and raised slogans against the ghost teachers.
