Murderer gets death sentence

RAWALPINDI, March 2: Additional District and Sessions Judge Shaukat Mahmood on Wednesday awarded death sentence to a murderer of Assistant Sub-Inspector of traffic police Lal Khan.

In addition to death penalty the murderer would also pay fine of Rs100,000 and undergo three years imprisonment for theft and seven years for hiding the dead body.

The ASI Lal Khan, resident of tehsil Bhalwal district Mandi Bhaudin was brutally murdered by his relative Shahid Iqbal on May 10, 2004. Shahid Iqbal was living with Lal Khan in Jhanda Chichi.

The accused was given job and shelter by the late ASI.

Shahid after killing the ASI with bricks threw his body in the well situated in the compound of the house.

He after collecting some valuable goods and the official pistol of Lal Khan, abandoned the house.—A Reporter
