KARACHI: Arrest of culprits demanded: Nishtar Park tragedy

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 2: Speakers at a demonstration on Friday condemned the government on its failure in arresting the culprits of the Nishtar Park tragedy and warned that if all those involved in the conspiracy were not arrested a countrywide protest would be launched.

The demonstration was organised jointly by the Jamaat Ahle Sunnat Pakistan and Fidayan-i-Khatm-i-Nabuwwat at the Karachi Press Club.

Maulana Qazi Noorani, Maulana Ghafar Awasi, Sahibzada Amanullah Niazi, Sahibzada Zubair Hazarwi, Maulana Mohammad Idrees, Mohammad Irfan and others addressed the demonstration.

They said that it was unfortunate that religious scholars were not safe in the country that came into being in the name of Islam, and the government was also not making sufficient efforts to arrest the culprits involved in bomb blasts.

They said that nearly a year had passed and the anniversary of the religious scholars martyred at the Nishtar Park was fast approaching but the killers had not yet been arrested and the rulers were busy celebrating Basant.

The speakers demanded that the government should make foolproof security arrangements on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi.

Earlier, the protesters took out a procession from the mosque after the Friday prayers and after marching through various city streets came to the press club where it turned into a rally and speeches were delivered.

The protesters were carrying banners with their demands written on them and were also chanting slogans in support of their demands.
