KARACHI: Cleanliness drive in full swing

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 2: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal has directed the city government authorities to take necessary measures for elimination of the mosquito breeding grounds in the metropolis to curb any possible spread of viral diseases.

He was chairing a meeting of health department officials, who briefed him about the ongoing cleanliness and spray drive, at his office on Friday.

The nazim said the city government was spending over Rs3 billion in the health sector to provide maximum healthcare facilities to citizens. He asked EDO Health to take town and union council nazims as well as councillors into confidence for making the drive a success. He said the anti-germs spray would be carried out till April 22.

The nazim was briefed about the measures being taken by the city government’s health department for cleaning of 63 drains. He was informed that sludge and garbage was removed in the drains from Water Pump Chowrangi to Landi Kotal and Dental College to Farooq-i-Azam Masjid.
