KARACHI, March 2: Leader of Opposition In Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmad Khuhro has termed the murder of Punjab Minister Zill-i-Huma Usman during an open katchery as proof of the inept performance of the government and said after the confession of the accused that he had also made an aborted attempt on the life of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. He called for registration of an FIR against him for an attempt to murder.

Mr Khuhro, who was addressing a press conference in his chamber on Friday soon after the session was adjourned for Monday, said they wanted to move a resolution in the session in this respect when Dr Saeeda Malik moved the resolution but the chairman of the sitting, trampling the rules did not allow him to speak on the subject.

He pointed out that they had also submitted a resolution in the house condemning the murder of the minister in which they had demanded that an FIR be registered against the accused for attempting to kill Benazir Bhutto.

He said the chairman by suspending Rule 102 which pertainsto the right to move a resolution, adopted a faulty resolution despite pointing out the anomaly by opposition member Rafiq Engineer. He said they had lodged their complaint with the speaker in this regard.

Mr Khuhro said that opponents of the government in the country were being given signals. Nawab Akbar Bugti’s murder, and killing and disappearance of political workers, attempt on the life of Azra Pechuho, MNA and sister of Asif Zardari was also a sort of message to the opposition, but it would not be overawed by the government.

Commenting on the Larkana public meeting of President General Musharraf, he said it was a meeting under the tents and the PML must tell how many tents were erected there?

The MMA Parliamentary Leader, Maulana Omar Sadiq, who was present at the meeting along with Nisar Khuhro condemned move of banning daily Islam, and harassment of its employees and hawkers and termed it restrictions on freedom of the Press that deserved condemnation.

Maulana Sadiq said that there was no link between Al-Rashid Trust and Daily Islam and those who were talking of banning the daily and harassing workers should be condemned. He also condemned bomb blast in Multan on Friday.
