Rakay steers team to victory

KARACHI, March 1: A late recovery by Sir Syed University helped them beat Aga Khan University 61-59 in a nail-biting opening match of Inter-University zone ‘F’ basketball tournament at KPT gymnasium on Thursday.

The winners who trailed 40-50 at the end of third quarter put their act together to turn the table on their opponents.

Rakay, a Sindh colour-holder, amassed 28 points to steer his team to victory. Agha M. Ibrahim (17) and Sajjad Ali (9) were the other main scorers for winners.

Noman Fazal top scored for losers with 17 followed by Saad A. Jamal (15) and Umer Moin (9).

Sir Syed University now takes on Hamdard University on Friday at 10.30am. Karachi University is pitted against Aga Khan in the next match at 12noon.

Four Universities are taking part in the zonal qualifiers which are being played on single league basis.
