AIDS prevention campaign at World Cup

BRIDGETOWN, March 1: With a $500000 investment in the HIV/AIDS prevention campaign, the National HIV/AIDS Commission launched a powerful cricket-supported campaign in Barbados aimed at saving an entire generation.

Commission’s Chairperson Dr Carol Jacobs said the launch, designed to coincide with the ICC Cricket World Cup, was nothing short of a dream come true. “This has been a dream the HIV/AIDS Commission had for the last four years or so, as we had planned to have a prevention campaign.”

She said the Government provided a budget for this campaign, while funds also received from West Indies captain Brian Lara and several NGOs. —Agencies
