KARACHI, March 1: Three-year-old bay filly Phapha Kutni atone to previous loss by sprinting to a facile eight lengths victory over chestnut colt Moon Raker in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Thursday.

Owned by Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara, the odds on favourite horse fully capitalised handicap advantage to land the feature event with ease. Running in a pack of seven horses she enhanced her lead after negotiating the bend and getting straight for home. Saddled by Allah Judrio she was ridden home by jockey Fahim K who completed a treble with other two winners being Shah Pasand and Virile.

Mare Ouija Board with four wins on trot under her belt finished five lengths behind to secure third place while another mare Voo Doo Doll completed the frame.

With no form worth bay horse Virile, who was installed favourite, claimed his maiden victory by posting eight lengths victory over Trust Again to grab the supporting event.

Formerly Ponche, Virile has never been on the board in the recent past and his sudden rise has raised quite a few eyebrows.

Four-year-old bay colt Shah Pasand picked up spoils in top division of class VII when he stormed to three-quarter-of-a-length victory over filly Foolish Pleasure. The win enabled him to make it two-in-a-row.

Jockey Asghar Ali also excelled in the saddle bringing a brace of winners. After piloting four-year-old bay colt Captain Cook to half length victory in the opener he galloped outsider Trust Again to win by neck in the sixth race.

The second race was won by joint favourite Silent Love who beat Breaking News by four lengths.

Favourite colt Hamza Joy continued his winning streak registering a two-and-a-half lengths victory over Azam The Great in the next race.

Rank outsider Lucky Luck toppled favourites Meri Paidagiree and Qandhar to pick up the fourth race while the fifth ended in a blaze of glory for favourite Canon Ball.
