SA receive ICC shield
JOHANNESBURG, March 1: South Africa got perfect send-off to Cricket World Cup when its captain Graeme Smith was presented ICC ODI Championship Shield after their move to top of ICC ODI Championship table, the only official team rankings in that form of game.
The side assumed first place from Australia last month after outstanding run of results over past year, which saw them win 15 of its past 21 matches, including seven of last eight.
It is first time a side overtook Australia in ICC ODI Championship table since listings began in October 2002. —Agencies
