DADU, March 1: The special secretary of health department for public health sector, Dr captain Abdul Majid, has said that EDOs of health department have been directed to ensure insecticide spray in the surrounding areas of those places where the cases of dengue fever are found.
He told journalists at the circuit house on Thursday that two cases of dengue fever had been detected through tests at the Aga Khan Hospital, Karachi, in February. Project director, EPI, Sindh, Dr Salma, medical officer, WHO, Dr Azmodeh; and EDO (health) Dr Dhani Bux Thebo were present.
Answering a question, captain Majid said that the mosquito whose bite caused dengue fever thrived in solid waste and water tanks and containers. He said that the eggs of the mosquito lying dormant could breed even after two years if water touched them.
About vaccination against measles, he said that from March 1 to 18, a campaign would be launched in Dadu district to vaccine 570,000 children in the district.
He said that 100 measles cases had been detected only in Khudabad town of the district.
ACCIDENT: One person was killed and 16 were injured when a Karachi-bound coach overturned near Pipri bus stop, 7km from here, late Wednesday night.
The occupants of the coach were returning from Larkana after attending the public gathering of President Gen Pervez Musharraf.
