MUZAFFARGARH, March 1: Pakistan Democratic Party president Nawabzada Mansoor Khan says he will contest against his brothers if the ruling PML awarded them tickets.

At a press conference here on Thursday, Nawabzada Mansoor said he felt ashamed at the conduct of his three brothers who had joined the PML. “In fact, they have stabbed me in my back,” he said.

He claimed the PDP was still intact and would field its candidates in Muzaffargarh, the hometown of the party founder the late Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan.

Nawabzada Iftikhar, Nawabzada Ibrar and Nawabzada Israr had joined the ruling party last week.

Nawabzada Mansoor said he was not aware of the benefits offered to his brothers by the Punjab chief minister.

He said since he did not want to keep any contact with his brothers, he was going to raise a wall to divide the Saifnagar residence of his father in Khangarh.

Saifnagar is a historical place where all prominent politicians like Pir Pagaro, Wali Khan, Benazir Bhutto, Akbar Bugti, Mustafa Jatoi, Mustafa Khar, Mir Ghaus Bakhsh Bazinjo, Qazi Husain Ahmad, Shah Ahmad Noorani, Javed Hashmi, Shujaat Husain and others came to meet Nawabzada Nasrullah. During the ARD movement in 1980, the Nawabzada was put under house arrest there for several months.

Mansoor said there were no differences among his brothers over the division of the inherited property, and they would do it amicably.

About the claim of his brothers that they had the support of 170 UC nazims and councillors, Mansoor termed it a white lie, and said all the councillors and nazims from the Nawabzada group were still with him. He said if his brothers had the support of 170 nazims and councillors, they could have won the district nazim elections.

He said he would attend the multi-party conference scheduled in London later this month.
