Iranian trade delegation to visit Balochistan

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, March 1: A high-level Iranian delegation headed by governor of the Iranian province of Sistan would soon visit Balochistan to explore the possibilities of trade and investment in the province.

Iranian Consul General for Quetta Ali Arian Nejad stated this during a meeting with Provincial Chief Secretary K.B. Rind here in which they discussed different issues.

The Iranian consul general informed the chief secretary about the good relations between Pakistan and Iran, especially in areas like trade, investment and exchange of delegations between Sistan and the Pakistani province of Balochistan.

He said that Iranian investors were taking keen interest in different sectors in the province of Balochistan, especially in Gwadar, and soon a high-level delegation would visit Quetta in this regard.

Mr Rind said the government of Pakistan would welcome investment by Iranian investors in Gwadar and other areas of the province.

“The government would welcome investment in various sectors, including construction and trade through the sea in Balochistan," he said, and added that with cooperation in the promotion of culture, tourism, education, sports and other sectors and the exchange of delegations both the countries would not only come closer but their economies would also become stronger.

He said that he would inform the federal government about the offer of the Iranian government to provide sea-travelling facilities between Gwadar and Chagird and investment in Gwadar.

He said that both the neighbours enjoyed deep religious and cordial relations and with the passage of time these relations would be further strengthened.
