LAKKI MARWAT, March 1: Burglars broke into the main store of the District Headquarters Hospital here and stole equipment and other items worth millions of rupees.
The Ghaznikhel police said that the store keeper, Javed Iqbal, had lodged a report stating that some unidentified thieves stole 17 items, including medical equipment and accessories.
Hospital sources said that the stolen articles worth Rs 2.5 million included pulse oximeter, oxygen concentrator, specialist ophthalmoscope, hematology analyzer, ECG machine, OT light accessories, television sets, dental lath machine, blood gas analyzer, endoscope with accessories, fumigation rod (1,000W) and air conditioners, and added that sniffer dogs were brought from Dera Ismail Khan in order to find clues about the thieves but in vain.
They said that it was the second incident of theft that had occurred in the newly-established hospital, which is situated near Tajazai, some 14 km away from Lakki city.
Meanwhile, it has been learnt that District Nazim Humayun Saifullah Khan has taken serious notice of the theft incident in the DHQ Hospital and has directed the district coordination officer to appoint a high-level committee for conducting a thorough probe into the matter.
