KARACHI: CCPO wants deployment at uplift work sites

KARACHI, March 1: The Capital City Police Officer, Azhar Farooqi, has directed the traffic police to ensure effective enforcement of traffic laws on all the roads and signals and make special deployment at places where development work was in progress so that traffic flow was not affected.

Mr Farooqi directed them to ensure that traffic moved in a prescribed speed and followed the appropriate lane; signals were observed and ambulances were given right to way on a priority basis. The CCPO also stressed on ensuring pedestrians’ right to pass first while crossing a road.

Mr Farooqi appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the traffic police in maintaining disciplined and traffic flow because, he said, traffic police alone could not succeed in ensuring enforcement of laws.

He also warned violators of traffic laws of appropriate action.

SECURITY: CCPO Azhar Ali Farooqui on Thursday ordered police officials to make strict security arrangements for Dawat-e-Islami’s congregation at Sehra-e-Madina, Super Highway. The three-day Ijtema beings on Friday (March 2).

The CCPO presided over a meeting in his office to discuss the situation prevailing in the city and matters relating to the congregation.

The meeting was also attended, among others, by DIG Operations Mushtaq Shah, SSP Security Ameen Yusufzai and TPO Gadap Sain Rakhio Mirani.

The CCPO said that foolproof security measures be taken and suitable traffic arrangements be made at and around the venue of the congregation in order to avoid congestion or any untoward incident.—APP/PPI
