KARACHI, Feb 28: Three-year-old bay filly, Phapha Kutni, is tipped to avenge her last defeat which she suffered at the hands of mare Ouija Board, when the two comes across each other in the feature event of Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Thursday.

Ridden by Ghulam Shabbir II, Ouija Board defeated Phapha Kutni by short head in a neck-and-neck battle to complete hat-trick on Feb 11. Riding on crest of a wave the former stretched her winning run by storming to eight-and-a-half lengths victory over Black Girl last Sunday.

The two rivals are among seven contenders who will vie for honours in class IV and V division I and II six furlongs race barring last minute withdrawls.

They should be chased by bay colt Sir Jee and chestnut colt Moon Raker for the next two places on board.

A card of nine races has been chalked out for the day. The first race begins at 12.30pm.

Five-year-old bay horse, Jack In the Box, is predicted to make amends and come out with shining performance by grabbing the supporting event. He settled for second position going down to Birj-ul-Arab by two-and-a-half lengths on Sunday.

Form horses - Can’t Catch Me and Trsut Again – are likely to pose threat to Jack In The Box.

Despite failure to finish on the board on Sunday, mare Patricia is poised to display her true form by picking up a long deserved win in top division of class VII to be run over a sprinting distance of five furlongs. On handicap she looks to beat the field. Her opposition will come from Foolish Pleasure and Shah Pasand.

If tried by connection, three-year-old bay filly Sweetie Pie should pick up spoils in the sixth race to make it two-in-a-row. Lucky leader and Champion Express should battle it out for the places.

Owned by Miss Benish Hasan, bay filly Be Jamalo is fancied to atone to the loss by outpacing opponents.

Mare Meri Paidagiree is our fancy in the fourth race. Drawn alongside nine rivals, she will have to prove her worth by overcoming Qandhar and Lucky Luck in particular, to grab honours.

Captain Cook, Breaking News and Al Jarrar look certain to claim the first three races.
