Ex-senator’s son shot dead

By Tahir Siddiqui

KARACHI, Feb 27: A 22-year-old son of a former senator of the Baloch National Party was shot dead here on Tuesday. Police said that Zaheer Ahmed, son of Mohim Baloch, was going in his car when he came under fire near Dubai Chowrangi in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

Some passersby took him to the nearby Darul Sehat Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre where sources said that the victim had received three bullets, two in the head and one in left arm.

Police said the victim had married a girl whose family was not happy about the marriage.

They said the family of the victim had suspected involvement of his wife’s relatives in the murder.

Zaheer Ahmed was living with his wife, Asiya, in a flat on the University Road.

On the complaint of the former senator, police registered a case against 11 members of Asiya’s family, including her father Qadir Bux and close relatives Abdul Khaliq, Allahi Bux, Liaquat, Mazar Khan, Abdur Razzaque, Abdul Aziz and Mohammed Younus.

They said Asiya had married Zaheer in Karachi four months ago of her own free will, but against the wishes of her family.
