ABBOTTABAD, Feb 27: Speakers at a seminar on Tuesday stressed the need for media to avoid sensationalism while highlighting different issues and urged it to play a positive role in the development of positive attitudes in society.

The workshop was organized by Communication for Effective Social Service Delivery at the district council conference hall.

Speaking on the occasion as a chief guest, Sardar Haider Zaman, the District Nazim of Abbottabad, said that the media should focus its full attention on capacity-building of organizations in general and character-building of the people in par-

ticular with a constructive approach.

The seminar was largely attended by journalists from print and electronic media.

He said that at present more than 800 citizen community boards (CCBs) were registered in the district for which Rs13.9 million had been allocated. Out of these, funds had been released for 22 projects and for the remaining projects the funds would be released later.

Dr Tariq Niazi, Media Adviser to the National Reconstruction Bureau, said that at least 40,000 CCBs had been registered countrywide and now the responsibility rested with the media to monitor the activities of these organizations.
