KARACHI, Feb 26: Zia-ur-Rehman and Umair Imtiaz cracked half-centuries to guide their respective teams to victories in the NBP-KCCA Inter Club Championship matches on Sunday.

Zia-ur-Rehman made a patient 77 with four boundaries as Malir Companion Cricket Club beat Malir Gymkhana by four wickets at the Airport Stadium.

Khalid Latif hit six fours in his 72 and Rashid Hanif got 56 with seven fours as Malir Gymkhana CC posted 223-6 in 40 overs. Malir Companion CC, in reply, raced to victory in the 34th over thanks to Zia’s resolute batting.

Meanwhile, Rafiq Sherazi Memorial Cricket Club thrashed Azam Sports by eight wickets at the Annu Bhai Park.

Azam Sports, batting first, could manage 187-9 in 40 overs as Ashfaq Abbasi hit 70 with eight fours.

In response, Rafiq Sherazi Memorial CC reached the required target in 32.2 overs for the loss of only two wickets. Umair Imtiaz blasted a match-winning unbeaten 75 laced with six fours while Fahim Naeem made 66 with seven fours.
