KARACHI, Feb 26: Teams of Allana, Data Steel, Candyland and Lahore LUMS have qualified for semi-finals of the National bridge trials.
At the Aslam Bridge Hall, National Stadium on Sunday, Ex-national champion Allana led the way with 93 victory points (VPs) in the league rounds.
Data Steel claimed second place with 92 VPs.
Candyland scored 84 and captured third position. The Lums scored 75 and won fourth place.
Six qualified teams from Karachi and Punjab contested in the event which has been organised by the Pakistan Bridge Federation with technical support of the Karachi Bridge Association to select one team to represent Pakistan in the 14th Asia and Middle East bridge championship, scheduled to be held from May 12.
Star-studded Allana outpaced Rawal Aces 25-2, Candyland 19-11, Lums 18-12, Giants 19-11 but lost to Data Steel 12-18.
Data Steel also won four matches – Candyland 19-11, Giants 25-3, Allana 18-12, Rawal Aces 18-12 – and lost to Lums 12-18.
Candyland after losing first two matches to Data Steel and Allana defeated Lums 18-12, Giants 25-5 and Rawal Aces 21-9.
Lums from Lahore put up splendid performance and made inroads defeating Giants 20-10, Data Steel 18-12 and losing to Allana and Candyland.
Allana will face Lums in the semi-final while Data Steel will lock horns with Candyland.
