Seven handed down death


GUJRAT, Feb 26: An anti-terrorism court on Monday handed down death sentence on eight counts to seven killers of eight people with Rs100,000 fine each.

According to the prosecution, Master Nazir, Mian Khan, Lal Khan, Liaquat Ali, Mehdi Khan, Irfan and Wali Mohammad had shot dead eight people, including Bati Khan, Madad Ali, Gul Mohammad, Farman Ali, Haider Abbas, Afzal, Aslam and Ilyas over an old enmity outside Kharian session court on June 9, 2007.

The court acquitted Kalay Khan, Javed and Abid by giving them the benefit of the doubt and declared 18 nominated accused as proclaimed offenders. — Correspondent
