NAWABSHAH, Feb 26: The sacked employees of the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) took out a procession here on Monday to protest against the sacking of 1800 bank employees.
The participants of the rally converged in font of the press club after marching on the major thoroughfares of the city.
Led by Nisar Ahmed Narejo, Abdul Ghafoor, Mehar Mari, Iqbal Hussain and Shahnawaz Noonari, the protesters were carrying placards and banners and raising slogans for reinstatement.
Speaking on the occasion, People’s Party Parliamentarians MNA Dr Azra Pechuho said that the government was snatching employment from those who were given jobs by the PPP.
Criticizing the government, she said that jobless youth were committing suicide almost daily which negated government claim of a sound economy and financial reserves.
She said that the PPP would reinstate the sacked employees after coming into power.
MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio said that the government, instead of eliminating poverty, was snatching jobs from the poor. He said that the government had failed to provide basic facilities to the people.
SEMINAR: Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Vice-Chancellor Dr Abdul Qadir Rajput, has said that they are fortunate to possess mineral resources and stressed the need for proper exploitation of the resources.
He was speaking at the inaugural session of the two-day national conference on “Assessment and Proper Utilization of Indigenous Energy Resources and the Impact on Environment” at the Quaid-i-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology here on Monday.
