KARACHI, Feb 25: Pakistan can scoop up around $1.2 million in bonus cash if they win the World Cup in the West Indies, a senior Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said on Sunday.

The PCB said each player in the 15-member squad would be paid a bonus of Rs5 million ($84,000) if they won the March 13-April 28 tournament.

“This is a move to provide some incentives for the players. Even if they make the semi-finals, they will get Rs2.5 million ($42,000) each,” said Saleem Altaf, Director of Cricket Operations.

There is also a cash bonus of $20,000 for each player for making the semi-finals.

At a reception on Saturday, the chief patron of the board, President General Pervez Musharraf, reminded the players of the country's high expectations. —Reuters
