Plea to reinstate sacked teachers

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, Feb 25: A procession was taken out here on Sunday under the banner of the Action Committee for Reinstatement of Primary Teachers, demanding reinstatement of 80 teachers who were sacked in 1998.

Led by Manzoor Maher and Zeeshan Leghari, a large number of teachers carrying banners and placards marched on the main roads and reached the press club where they held a demonstration.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Maher and Mr Leghari said that 80 teachers of the district sacked in 1998 had still not been reinstated in service though the government had recently reinstated sacked teachers of Umerkot and Dadu districts.

They demanded of the Sindh governor and chief minister and chief justice of the Sindh High Court to take notice of the matter and ensure reinstatement of the sacked teachers.

CONDOLENCE: Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Kaimkhani, Mirpurkhas District Naib Nazim Dr Zafar Kamali, Mirpurkhas Taluka Nazim Ghulam Dastagir and other elected representatives visited the house of Fateh Mohammed alias Peerji at Khar Para who is believed to have died in the Samjhota Express incident with his wife and two daughters.

They offered condolences with the brother and sons of Fateh Mohammed over the deaths of their relatives and offered Fateha for the souls of the departed.

Black Day: On the call of the Sindh Paramedical Staff Welfare Association, paramedics observed black day here on Sunday to protest against what they called atrocities of the Nawabshah Medical College principal and Sukkur Civil Hospital medical superintendent with paramedical staff.

Dozens of paramedics took out a procession and staged a demonstration on the premises of the local Civil Hospital.
