KARACHI: PPP slams 10pc raise in power tariff

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 25: The Paki-stan People’s Party has condemned the 10 per cent increase in power tariff and termed it a continuity of the anti-people measures being taken by the regime.

In a statement issued on Sunday, PPP Sindh President Qaim Ali Shah said it was unjust to increase electricity tariff and it was contrary to the government claims about record foreign exchange reserves. He demanded that the government should immediately withdraw the decision.

He condemned the incident of violence at the Tando Jam Agricultural University and observed that hooliganism was a part of well-planned conspiracy. He demanded judicial probe.

Meanwhile, PPP leader Waqar Mehdi demanded a judicial inquiry into the disclosure of a ‘fanatic’ killer of Punjab minister that he had once tried to kill former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in 1994.
