LAHORE, Feb 24: A young married woman was strangled in Shafiqabad area on Saturday allegedly by her husband after she snubbed him for having relations with another woman.

Police said that accused Haji Zubair had first given sleeping pills in milk to Amna Ashfaq, 25, and then strangled her at his residence in Khokhar Town. They said the accused had relations with his class fellow `U’ and wanted to contract marriage with her.

Faisal Ashfaq said that Zubair, the owners of a cold storage, had tried to kill his sister in the same fashion about a fortnight back, but she survived. He said that we did not take the matter seriously.

He said the accused tried to convince the police that his wife had died naturally, but made the confession later.

Faisal said Amna was married to her maternal cousin Zubair some eight years ago and had two school going children.

He said the accused was an alcoholic and had relations with several women. He would particularly invite his class fellow to his house.

Police have arrested the accused and his friend Almas in abetment and registered a case on the complaint of Muhammad Ashfaq, the deceased’s father.
