ATTOCK, Feb 24: The Special Anti-Dacoit Squad on Saturday arrested the most wanted man on its criminals’ list during an operation in the Kala Chitta area, District Police Officer (DPO) Zafar Iqbal said.

The DPO said proclaimed offender Gul Rangeen alias Ranga, a resident of Bata village, was taken into custody in the morning and a 7mm rifle and 10 bullets were seized from his possession. The detainee was later shifted to the Saddar police station amid tight security.

Mr Iqbal said the PO was involved in various heinous crimes including terrorism, murder and kidnapping for ransom, and was operating from his Kala Chitta hideouts after forming his gang with Ajmal Khan, Saleem Musali and Hassan Akhtar, who were killed in an encounter on January 13.

“Now with the arrest of Gul Rangeen the said notorious gang has been eliminated completely and it will definitely provide relief to the residents of adjoining villages,” he claimed.

The DPO warned all other gangs that have taken refuge in the Kala Chitta area to surrender, otherwise they would face the same consequences. “The ongoing operation will continue till the complete elimination of all POs and harden criminals,” he said.
