HYDERABAD, Feb 24: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz and Jeay Sindh Students’ Federation observed black day in many parts of interior Sindh against ‘enforced disappearance’ of JSQM leaders Dr Safdar Sarki and Akash Mallah and the arrest of JSSF president Kehar Ansari.
The party activists took out processions and held demonstrations demanding immediate release of the arrested leaders. They carried banners and placards inscribed with different slogans.
In Hyderabad, a large number of JSQM and JSSF workers staged a sit-in outside the press club. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Niaz Kalani and Sagar Hanif Burdi said that Dr Safdar Sarki was picked up by the intelligence agencies one year ago and his whereabouts had not been made known till date.
Similarly, they said, Akash Mallah, Asif Baladi, Nawaz Zounr, Muzaffar Bhutto, Kehar Ansari and many other activists from Sindh and Balochistan were being held incommunicado.
They said that the only crime of the leaders was raising voice for the rights of Sindh and Sindhi people. They demanded that the arrested leaders should be freed without any further delay.
KHAIRPUR: A large number of JSQM and JSSF workers took out a procession from Maryam Toap Chowk up to Panj Gulla Chowk.
The protesters marched on main thoroughfares and raised slogans against government and in favour of Dr Safdar Sarki, Akash Mallah and Kehar Ansari.
Speaking on the occasion, district president of the JSQM, Amjad Mahesar and district president of the JSSF, Ameer Kanhar, Asad Suhag and others criticized the government for disappearance of Dr Safdar Sarki.
They further said that it had been a year since Dr Sarki had disappeared but there was no information whether he is alive or dead. They demanded immediate release of Dr Safdar Sarki, Akash Mallah and Kehar Ansari.
NAWABSHAH: Activists of JSQM took out a procession and held a demonstration outside local press club. The procession started from Naya Naka and, after marching on different thoroughfares, ended at the local press club. The protesters were carrying placards and raising slogans for the release of Kehar Ansari.
Speaking on the occasion, Khadim Rajpar, Sarfaraz Memon, Hashim Leghari, Sarwar Arejo and others said that Dr Sarki and other nationalist workers were missing since long and there was no news about there whereabouts. They demanded immediate recovery of workers and release of Kehar Ansari.
SHIKARPUR: A group of JSQM activists, led by Mujeeb Qureshi, Sami Mustafa, Imran Memon, Rizwan Memon and others, observed token hunger strike at Lakhi Gate tower roundabout. They demanded early release of Dr Safdar Sarki, Akash Mallah, Asif Baladi and other JSQM leaders. The activists also observed black day and wore black arm-bands.
LARKANA: Protesting against the forced disappearance of political workers, the activists of the JSQM took out a procession here. The divisional organiser of JSQM Athar Soomro and Muzaffar Sandado led the procession.
Chanting slogans against the government, they assembled in front of Jinnahbagh. They burnt tyres and staged a sit-in which disturbed traffic for more than one hour.
They criticized rulers for forced disappearance of Dr Safdar Sarki and other political workers and added a year had passed but the government was reluctant to disclose the whereabouts of Dr Sarki and others.
They urged the government to produce them in the court of law if they had any charges against them.
Athar Soomro said that protest would continue till the acceptance of demands and condemned the arrest of Kehar Ansari.
The speakers called for the early release of Dr Safdar Sarki, Kehar Ansari and other political workers.
