KARACHI, Feb 24: A suspect was shot and critically injured on Saturday during a shootout with police in Saddar. The injured suspect, identified as Juma, 30, was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre by the police. Hospital sources said the man was in a critical condition as he had received a bullet in his back.

Preedy police said a mobile van, patrolling the area, spotted two suspects in a Suzuki Alto. They said the occupants of the car opened fire and tried to speed away when the police party signalled them to stop.

The police also returned the fire and one of the suspects was injured and arrested, while his accomplice got down the car and ran away. The police also seized a pistol from the injured suspect.

They said the suspects had placed a fake registration number plate on the car, which was leased out by suspect Juma in his name from a bank.

DRUG PUSHER HELD: Mubina Town police arrested a drug pusher and recovered from him 20kg hashish.

The suspect Abdus Sattar was going in his car when a police patrol intercepted him near Bux Ali Goth and seized the contraband narcotics from his car.
