KARACHI, Feb 24: slow shipping activity was witnessed at the port where Maersk Arkansas carrying containers was accommodated on berth at QICT during the last 24 hours, says a PQA report.

Berth occupancy remained at 50 per cent at the port where five ships occupied berths to load, unload containers, rice, wheat and crude oil, respectively, during the report period.

A cargo volume of 43,360 tons comprising 23,284 tons of imports and 20,076 tons of exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,257 containers (Teus) was handled at the port during the report period.

Five ships were at the outer anchorage namely: Sima Pars (container), CGM Aegean (container), MSC Germany (containers), Gulf Progress (diesel) and Elka Vassilike (furnace oil).

Two ships were due to sail out to the sea on Saturday.
