Privatisation secretary dies

ISLAMABAD, Feb 23: Federal Secretary Ministry of Privatization and Investment Sheikh Ikramullah died at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) here on Friday afternoon.

He was 58 and survived by a wife, three daughters and two sons. His funeral will be held at Army Graveyard, Race Course Ground, Rawalpindi on Saturday at 11pm.

According to a statement issued by the privatization commission, Sheikh Ikrammullah suffered brain haemorrhage during an official meeting three days ago and was on respirator.

He had undergone a major heart surgery two months ago.

He had assumed the charge of the federal secretary privatisation and investment after his promotion to BS-22 on April 29, 2006. Earlier he served as senior joint secretary defence division. He also served as joint secretary of the division. He also remained financial adviser to the military finance; acting secretary, FPSC; DFA Military Finance; Secretary CBR and deputy director Prime Minister’s Federal Inspection Commission.

He started his carrier in 1973 as civil servant.

Born on March 1, 1948, Sheikh Ikramullah post graduated in English literature from the Punjab University in 1970 and did his M.Sc in Administrative Sciences and Development Problems from University of York, UK in 1989.

President Gen Pervez Musharraf expressed his sorrow over the demise of Shaikh Ikramullah.—Our Reporter
