ISLAMABAD, Feb 23: Pakistan Peoples Party on Friday demanded registration of a case against those who had prepared a conspiracy to kill party chairperson and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Speaking at a press conference here on Friday Senator Baber Awan said the government should register a separate case and brought other persons, involved in the conspiracy, to book. The killer of Punjab provincial minister, Molvi Sarwar had confessed that a murder conspiracy had been prepared against the PPP chairperson.

He said that a joint investigation team should be constituted which investigate the conspiracy. Molvi Sarwar revealed that the murder conspiracy of the PPP chairperson, however, person could not prepare the conspiracy but can desire of such thing.

The authorities not only register a case but were also tight-lipped. PPP was disappointed that no progress had been made even after three days.

The government has failed to maintain peace and law and order situation in the country, he said, adding that the government was provoking party’s workers when Ms Butto announced to return back in the country.

Senator Awan said that three cases had been lodged on charges of conspiracy against Gen Pervez Musharraf, two in Punjab and one in Sindh. However, no inquiry has been ordered regarding the incidents of attacks on Dr Azhra and Shreen Rehman, which resulting the murder of Punjab provincial minister, a part of a campaign of violence against women, he added.

The Turkish Parliamentary delegation headed by Ismail Alptekin, Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly on Friday called on the Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain in the Parliament House.

Talking to the delegation, Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain said that Pakistan values its relation with Turkey and both the countries have unanimity of views on all regional and global issues.

He said that relations between the two fraternal countries were based on strong bond of religion, deep rooted historical links, common cultural heritage and economic cooperation.
