NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Feb 23: The District Council of Naushahro Feroze, in its session here on Friday, demanded a complete ban on production and sale of gutka and mainpuri here on Friday.
Presided over by the Naib Nazim of the District Council, Ali Almani, UC Nazims of Bhorti Mohammad Nawaz pointed out shortage of police on police pickets in the district.
The members Urs Solangi, Syed Maqbool Shah, Mohammad Hashim Navel and Riaz Korai regretted that gutka and mainpuri were being sold openly which was affecting the youth. They pointed out that drugs were also being sold without any check.
DPO Irfan Baloch appreciated the cooperation of citizens and assured that he would bring to an end the sale of drugs.
The council passed resolution for ban on gutka and mainpuri and mini cinema during school time.
The DPO announced a reward of Rs7000 for SHOs and Rs5000 for TPOs if no crime is committed in their jurisdiction. The announcement was made after the session of the district council on Friday.
VISIT: The Sindh Secretary Communication and Works , Faisal Saud, visited the under construction judicial complex near DCO office here on Friday.
While briefing the secretary, the Executive Engineer Izhar Ahmed Shaikh said that 95 per cent work was completed and that the complex would be handed over to the judiciary next month. He said the work on complex was undertaken in August 2004.
The Superintending Engineer, Syed Abdul Qadir Shah, and other officials were present. The secretary also visited Bahria College.
SNAKE BITE: A youth was admitted to the Taluka Hospital Kandiaro after snake bite here on Friday. Rashid Ali Bhatti 21, resident of Saeedpur village near Kandiaro was working in the fields when he was bitten by a snake.
He was admitted to the taluka hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.
RAID: The Kandiaro police raided Hamayoon Rind Village and arrested three persons for cultivating hemp crop on Thursday evening.
TPO Mehrabpur and Kandiaro along with heavy contingent of police raided the village and arrested Jafar son of Liaquat Rind, advocate and Yasin son of Illahi Bux Rind.
SHO Kandiaro, Ayaz Memon told Dawn that raid was conducted after high official received information about the cultivation of hemp crop on four acres.
Police registered a case under section 3/4 Narcotics Substances Act and 13-D Arms Act against three persons. One of them Manthar was absconding.
