KARACHI, Feb 23: Sindh Ombudsman Yousuf Jamal taking serious note of civil hospital waste asked the director-general of Sindh Environmental Protection Agency to formulate a sustainable plan in coordination with the concerned officials for safe disposal of the hospital waste.

A meeting regarding hospital waste management was held with the ombudsman in the chair at his office, which was also attended by SEPA Director-General Abdul Malik Ghouri, Civil Hospital Board of Governors Chairman Abu Shamim Arif, Dr Syed Waqar Ali, Ombudsman Secretary Ashfaque Ahmad Memon, Syed Amir Ali Shah, Mohammad Iqbal Diwan, Hassan Rizvi and others.

The meeting was informed that the existing incinerator plant in the civil hospital could not meet the requirement, as it was outdated and needed replacement.
