KARACHI: SHC allows Dr Azra’s petition

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 23: The Sindh High Court allowed a petition moved by PPP MNA Dr Azra Pechuho for employing armed guards for her security.

Additional Advocate-General Abbas Ali, who appeared in response to a court notice, said the provincial government had no objection to the MNA from Nawabshah acquiring the services of security guards carrying licensed arms. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Faisal Arab passed an order accordingly.

Dr Azra, sister of former federal minister Asif Ali Zardari, said in her petition that she apprehended a threat to life. She was fired at during the February 10 by-election for a provincial assembly seat and escaped unhurt because she was traveling in a bullet-proof car. Advocate Farooq H. Naek appeared for the petitioner.
