Senior official passes away

KARAK, Feb 22: Provincial population secretary Baz Muhammad Khan Khattak died here on Thursday after protracted illness. He would be laid to rest on Friday at his ancestral graveyard in Narri Panoos.

Mr Khattak was born on Sept 9, 1949 at Narri Panoos in the Karak district.

He leaves behind three brothers and three sisters to mourn his death.

Mr Khattak passed the competitive examination in 1977 and performed duties as assistant commissioner Lakki and Bannu; as deputy commissioner Mansehra, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan; as commissioner Malakand, Mardan and Zhob (Balochistan); political agent North Waziristan and secretary, local government.

He had been suffering from Hepatitis C since May last and remained under treatment at London and China.

Five days ago, he was admitted to the Leady Reading Hospital where he died on Thursday.
