PIA crew reinstated

ISLAMABAD, Feb 21: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has directed PIA to allow its cabin and ground crew to resume their duty.

The chief justice gave the decision on the complaint of a PIA airhostess in which the Chief Justice had taken suo motu notice.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan ruled: “Cabin crew as well as persons on ground duties to whom notices have been issued shall be taken on duty immediately.

“Initially, a period of three months will be provided to them to make out the deficiencies, which have been provided out … Cases of the cabin crew, across the board will be sent to suitability board to examine discrimination pointed out by the applicants. Subsequent thereto a report shall be submitted to this court after three months.

“However their services shall not be terminated for the reasons mentioned in the notices,” says a press release of the Supreme Court issued here on Wednesday.

“Cases of the individuals will be examined and if there is no justification to keep them away from the cabin duty, they would be allowed to perform duties,” it said.—APP
