ISLAMABAD, Feb 21: Pakistan Air Force comfortably won the title trophy of the first-ever Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee ski championship that concluded at Naltar (Gilgit) on Wednesday.

The championship started at the 10,000-feet Naltar Ski Resort on Monday. PAF skiers outclassed their rivals in both slalom and giant slalom events.

The detailed results are as under:

SLALOM: 1st Position Mohammad Abbas (PAF); 2nd Sarwar Khan (PAF); 3rd Zia Jan (Army).

GIANT SLALOM: 1st Position Mohammad Abbas (PAF); Mohammad Iqbal (Army); 3rd Sher Afzal (PAF).

Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Raashid Kalim, who is also the president of Ski Federation of Pakistan, was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. He awarded medals and trophies among the winners.

As many as 12 skiing outfits participated in the championship. These included teams from the three services, the four provinces, Islamabad, PTDC, Alpine Club, Civil Aviation Authority, Northern Areas and Adventure Foundation. —APP
