LAHORE, Feb 21: Four hockey officials have been summoned to appear on Feb 26 by a civil judge on a petition filed by Olympian Naveed Alam against his suspension as Punjab Hockey Association (PHA) secretary.

Civil Judge Zafaryab Chadhar has summoned the PHA president Imran Masood, joint secretary Munawwar Hussain Azad, Lahore District Hockey Association president Khalid Rasool, and Olympian and former president Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Akhtar Rasool.

Naveed's lawyer has also served a notice to PHA president, who is also a provincial minister, urging him to refrain from asking Naveed to vacate PHA office.

Punjab Sports Department had instructed Naveed to vacate the PHA office in the National Hockey Stadium which is one of the properties of the sports department.

"Whereas my client is still holding the office as secretary of Punjab Hockey Association because, your act dated 29-12-2006 (of suspending Naveed) is illegal and against the constitution of the Punjab Hockey Association. I have been informed by my client that you are trying to dispossess him from the office and to violate the orders of the civil court which would be considered as contempt of court," the lawyer said in his legal notice to the PHA president.
