PPP rally condemns ‘rigging’

By Our Correspondent

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Feb 21: A large number of activists of the People’s Party Parliamentarians took out a procession here on Wednesday to protest against rigging in Kotri by-election.

Led by the district president of the PPP, Abdul Haq Bhurt, they also staged a demonstration outside the press club.

While condemning alleged rigging by the government

in Kotri by-election and rejecting the results, they said that government interference in by-elections had exposed the rigging.

They said that in such circumstances, democratic people were compelled to think whether to take part in the forthcoming general elections under this government or not.

TRAIN SERVICE: The residents of Lakha road took out a procession and demanding restoration of the stop of shuttle and other trains on Wednesday.

Led by the General Secretary of the Shehri Ittehad, Abdul Rehman Arain, and President of the Ittehad Welfare Association, Nabi Bux, they blocked the railway track at railway crossing.

The protesters complained that service of Bedal Express was discontinued and the villagers were facing problems while travelling to other towns.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of Pakistan Railways, Asad Saeed, and Divisional Superintendent, Sukkur, Mohammad Khalid Amin, who were on an inspection, arrived at the site via a special train and assured the protesters that Shah Rukn-i-Alam Express would make a stop at Lakha Road station.

They showed their inability to restore service and stop of shuttle express.

They, however, announced that the KT train 304-down and 303-up from Kotri up to Padidan would now ply via Mehrabpur and that Lakha Road would be one of its stop.
