Published February 22, 2007

SWABI, Feb 21: There is a dire need of plantation and other remedial measures to shield human being from the impending threat of global warming, and if the world community fails to deliver at this juncture, they will pay a great price for it.

This was stated by Salimullah Khan, country-coordinator of the United Nation Development Programme for Promotion of Tropical Forest (PTF), on Wednesday while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Tegarai road project.

A local NGO, Shewa Educated Social Workers Association (Seswa), has completed the project with the financial assistance of the UNDP.

Mr Khan highlighted the importance of tree plantation, hazardous effects of deforestation and global warming threat which had created an extremely complicated situation for the world community.

He said all nations and communities should play their due role and work for the protection of the globe.
