By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 21: The resignation of minister of state for Privatisation Omar Ahmed Ghumman has been accepted by the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday. A notification to the effect is expected soon.

Sources privy to the development claimed that the young parliamentarian had developed differences with the prime minister over policy issues.

National Assembly sources said the prime minister had reportedly sought his resignation on Monday and he immediately tendered his resignation from the cabinet as well as membership of the National Assembly.

The former minister of state is a son of Maj (retd) Nisar Chumman and is reported to be a close friend of president Gen Musharraf.

Mr Ghumman did not respond to Dawn’s calls on his cell phone.

Minister of Iinformation Muhammad Ali Durrani told Dawn that Mr Ghumman had given ‘personal reasons’ for the resignation.

According to APP, President Gen Pervez Musharraf had accepted Mr Ghumman’s resignation and a notification had been issued by the Cabinet Division.
