By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Feb 19: Issues of ball-tampering, substitute fielders, obstructing the field and implementation of the Duckworth/Lewis method were given special attention at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) umpires’ refresher course that ended here on Monday.

Forty umpires from Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Lodhran, Faisalabad, Kasur, Khanewal, Lahore, Multan, Sargodha, Sheikhupura and Muridke attended the course. They were instructed to remain vigilant about ball tampering to check this evil in the domestic cricket.

Main instructors at the course were the PCB umpires Manager Khizar Hayat, Said Shah and Azhar Hassan.

Khizar said Pakistan has achieved noticeable success at the international level in umpiring as currently five Pakistan umpires were representing the country in the International Cricket Council panels, adding that among them two each were on the Elite Panel and the International Panel and one on TV. Besides, 13 umpires had officiated the matches of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in different countries in 2005-06.
