Youth, sister murdered over marriage dispute

By Our Correspondent

TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 19: A youth and his sister were murdered and their other brother was seriously injured over a love marriage issue here on Monday.

Saddar police said Saeed of Chak 289 JB, brother of deceased Nawaz and Nasira, had kidnapped the sister of accused Nisar and Razzaq and contracted court marriage with her.

Nisar and Razzaq attacked them with axes when they were carrying fodder for their cattle towards their farmhouse and killed Nawaz and Nasira and injured Saeed. He was admitted to the DHQ hospital in critical condition.

ROAD BLOCK: Traffic remained blocked on Monday for about an hour on Toba-Rajana Road when transporters parked their buses on the road in protest against alleged torture of a conductor and driver by college students.

The conductor had reportedly refused to board some of their fellow students from Pirmahal and the students stopped the bus outside college and beat him up along with the driver.

CASE REGISTERED: Saddar police registered on Monday a case against an impersonator on the charge of harassing a lady health visitor of Chak 321 JB Seowal.

Complainant Khalida Yasmin told police that accused Javed Iqbal of Toba Low Income Housing Colony No 1 visited the rural health centre and impersonated as a member of CM’s inspection team. He told her that he had come to hold an inquiry against her.

She said she asked him to contact her officer in charge but he forcibly entered her house and threatened her with dire consequences. She raised an alarm and her neighbours overpowered the accused and handed over to police.
