SAHIWAL, Feb 19: Lawyers boycotted courts on Monday in protest against the bomb blast in a court at Quetta. Addressing a gathering of lawyers, district bar association president Sheikh Muhammad Usman and others demanded the government arrest the accused at the earliest.

The lawyers warned that they would continue holding protest demonstrations if the accused were not arrested immediately.

The protesters said now terrorists had extended their activities to courts which showed failure of the government to maintain law and order.

SHEIKHUPURA: The district bar on Monday boycotted court proceedings against the Quetta suicide attack.

Lawyers, led by DBA president Nasrullah Wattoo, held a protest meeting, urging the government to tighten security in courts so that judges and lawyers could perform their duties in a peaceful atmosphere.

Mr Wattoo asked the government to initiate dialogue process with disgruntled elements of Baloshitan to resolve problems prevailing in the province otherwise the situation would aggravate further.

The lawyers were wearing black armbands and carrying placards.

District and sessions judge Rana Zahid Mehmood and other civil judges were also present in the meeting.

GUJRANWALA: Lawyers observed complete strike in protest against suicide bombing in Quetta district courts on the call given by Pakistan Bar Council here on Monday.

They stayed away from the court proceedings while the judges adjourned the cases. They held a meeting at the bar room with DBA president Ilyas Rehan in the chair and adopted a unanimous resolution condemning the attack.

They demanded that the criminals involved in the incident should be arrested soon.

They criticised the government and said nobody was safe in the country.

They condoled the deaths in the suicide attack.

TOBA TEK SINGH: Lawyers here observed a complete strike along with their Gojra and Kamalia colleagues on Monday against the Quetta suicide attack.

A lawyers’ meeting, through a resolution, demanded immediate arrest of the people behind the attack.

BAHAWAlPUR: In response to the call of Punjab Bar Council, the high court and district bars boycotted judicial work here on Monday.

The high court bar association at its emergency meeting passed a resolution, condemning the incident and offered `fateh’ for the victims.

The resolution demanded early arrest of terrorists.

The meeting decided to send a bar delegation to Quetta to condole the death of the senior civil judge and others.

Meanwhile, people had to face a great deal of inconvenience owing to the strike and their cases were adjourned without any proceedings.
