PESHAWAR, Feb 18: The London multi-party conference will be held in mid-March and its exact date will be announced on Monday, according to Secretary-General of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy Iqbal Zafar Jhagra.
He was addressing party workers at the residence of the former NWFP chief minister, late Yousuf Khattak, here on Sunday.
“The entire nation is looking forward to it as a vital move for restoring democracy and stabilising the country’s institutions,” said Mr Jhagra, who is also general secretary of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz).
The meeting was also attended by president of the PML-N’s NWFP chapter and former NWFP chief minister Pir Sabir Shah, senior vice-president Saranjam Khan, secretary information Haji Arshad Qureshi and district Nazim of Karak Rahmat Salam Khattak.
Mr Jhagra held President Gen Pervez Musharraf responsible for the resurgence of militancy and political instability across the country and said his removal was essential for restoring peace in the country.
Terming the government policies unrealistic and against the interests of the country, he said that these policies had virtually brought the country on the brink of destruction, adding that the country was facing a 1971-like situation, he said.
To save the country from enemies’ conspiracies, he urged the people to launch a joint struggle for national cause.
