Rajanpur DSP suspended

LAHORE, Feb 18: Rajanpur Saddar SDPO Siffat Husain with additional charge of DSP (Rajanpur HQ) has been suspended from service.

According to official sources, he was responsible to ensure proper security of a van carrying five under-trial prisoners, including Munir Ahmad Jaitani involved in nine cases of murder and abduction for ransom. This van was ambushed by criminals on Feb 17 while on way to DG Khan at Indus highway in Jampur, Rajanpur. They killed two constables, managed the release of all the five prisoners from police custody. It was stated that the guard escorting the prisoners, led by a head constable, was insufficiently equipped to accompany such criminals. An order by IGP stated Siffat failed to fulfill responsibility. —APP
