2 students killed in landmine blast

JACOBABAD, Feb 18: Two students were killed when their bicycle hit a roadside landmine in the Turab Ali village along the Sindh-Balochistan border in the area of R-D109 Kandhkot police station on Sunday.

Reports reaching here said that Behram, 10, and Dilmurad, 15, were blown into pieces when the landmine exploded. Their remains were moved to their village.

Police and Rangers personnel rushed to the blast scene and cordoned off the area. No FIR had been lodged till the filing of this report.

In another incident, two armed men shot dead a police official near the Dakhan Bangio village in the jurisdiction of Kashmore police station on Sunday.

Reports reaching here said that the armed men fired on Nawaz Domki when he reached near bus stand to go home after performing his duties. He died on the spot.

Police shifted the body to hospital for autopsy.

Another man was killed when he tried to stop thieves who had barged into his house in the Ghulam Hyder village from stealing in the wee hours of Sunday.

Reports reaching here said that Ghulam Hyder woke up and put up resistance when the thieves tried to steal away his belongings. The thieves opened fire and killed him before fleeing.
