Songwriter Ray Evans dies

LOS ANGELES, Feb 17: Ray Evans, a prolific songwriter who created lasting hits such as “Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)” along with long-time collaborator Jay Livingston, has died at 92, The Los Angeles Times reported on Saturday.

Evans died of an apparent heart attack on Thursday at UCLA Medical Center, his lawyer, Frederick Nicholas, told the Times.

Evans and Livingston won Oscars for “Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)” and two other songs: “Buttons and Bows” and “Mona Lisa.”

The duo, among Hollywood’s most successful music men.—AFP
