KARACHI, Feb 16: Five leaders and workers of Jamaat-i-Islami, including MNA Mohammed Hussain Mehenti, were booked on Friday for violating the Loudspeaker Act while addressing anti-Israel and anti-government demonstrators from a mosque in the Old Town after Juma prayers.

According to Baghdadi police, those booked, besides Mr Mehenti, are Prof Saleem Memon, an office-bearer of the party in Liyari, Malik Abdur Rehman, party chief in Musa Lane, and workers Sohail Ahmed Danish and Tahir.

Police said they had also seized the audio equipment from the Pathan Masjid in Musa Lane where the JI leaders were addressing 70 to 80 participants in the demonstration against Israeli excavation work at the Al Aqsa mosque.
